It’s said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that’s the case, Krog Street Market should be beaming from compliments, thanks to the number of similar food hall developments popping up OTP.

First announced in 2017, Marietta Square Market will soon open the doors to an 18,000-square-foot venture along Church Street in that city’s downtown, although just when is uncertain.

Instead of welcoming patrons this month as planned, city officials told the Marietta Daily Journal it looks like opening day will come in February or possibly March as tenants continue to wrap up construction.

Meanwhile, off Haynes Bridge Road across Ga. Highway 400 from North Point Mall, The Daily in Alpharetta is also on the way, though, like its Marietta counterpart, a bit later than previously announced.

Projected to be a 14,000-square-foot replacement for a former The Varsity location, The Daily originally was scheduled to open in spring 2018. The latest update from Tomorrow’s News Today has sources saying the new target is the first quarter of 2019.

While that development continues to evolve, yet another developer, Stonewalk Companies LLC, has offered up a proposal to convert a former 1950s school site on Kimball Bridge Road into a mixed-use destination.

While not exactly a Krog Street Market wannabe, but with similar components, the plan calls for 24,000 square feet of restaurant use. Elsewhere would be 210,000 square feet of offices, 10,000 square feet of shopping, and a 16,000-square-foot culinary school.

The rezoning proposal goes before the Alpharetta Planning Commission on February 7.

Snellville and Forsyth County are two other locales that have announced plans for Krog Street Market imitations, but those also have yet to become reality.
